How to Brew Farm Fresh Tea

  • Herbal Non-caffeinated

    • Herbal teas (tisanes) are best brewed with water at a full boil, typically

    • 200-212 F. This high temperature extracts flavor from robust herbs, flowers, and roots. Herbal teas can withstand and benefit from longer steeping times around 5-10 minutes.

  • Caffeinated

    • Caffeinated teas require higher temperatures to release more caffeine, but temperatures that are too hot can make the tea bitter. Here are the suggested temps for different types of tea:

Black Tea- 200 -212 F

Oolong Tea- 185- 205 F

Green Tea- 160- 180 F

White Tea- 160- 185 F

Matcha- 160-175 F

Or try cold brewing: Steeping in cold water for 4-8 hours extracts caffeine and theanine while leaving tannins.
